Does your computer have like 1.2 g of ram or something similar. Well mine had it had a 1 gig stick and a 256 stick. Doing something easy like removing the 256 will help performance. Only do this tip if your ram sticks don't match eg. (one is 256 and one is 1gig)
Another easy but something that most people over look is update your video card drivers! This can seem like a daunting task if your not good with computers but its easy i assure you.If you need more info on this catch me up on vent
This tip should be used frequently to keep your computer in shape. Download a good defrager (i use this one www.defraggler.com/ )
This you might not notice a performance increase but should stop some of those annoying crashes. get a registry cleaner (i use this one www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm )
And last but not least one of the easiest tips to do is get rid of any programs you don't use . Go to control panel the and or remove programs. This will bring up a list of all the programs installed on you computer.
also this is more of a security tip, make sure windows firewall is turned on. if you have Northern Anti-virus installed on your computer i would advise you uninstalling it. It slows your computer down and is one of the biggest resource hogs out there. Get something simple like windows defender ( www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx ) and remember virus only get onto your computer when you let them on. Safely surf the net and only go to sites you trust.
And remember people never say your computer is crap! Just because it may be old doesn't mean there isn't life in the old baby yet!
Also a simple upgrade like an extra stick of ram can give your PC some extra life trust me my PC is 7 years old
If you have any questions post here or catch me up on vent.
